W. Jakarta CKTRP Has Investigated Padel Court Roof Collapse

West Jakarta Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Land (CKTRP) Agency has conducted an investigation into the collapsed padel court roof in Meruya Selatan Urban Village, Kembangan Sub-district.

"It is estimated that certain parts were unable to bear the load during very heavy rain and strong winds,"

West Jakarta CKTRP Sub-agency Head, Heru Sunawan, stated that the investigation found the roof collapsed because part of the structure could not withstand the load during heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.

"Based on the initial inspection, it is estimated that certain parts were unable to bear the load during very heavy rain and strong winds," he said, Wednesday (10/29).

He explained that he has asked the management to stop all operational activities. Reconstruction work has also been temporarily stopped pending a structural assessment by an expert team.

“We have also directed to suspend reconstruction and operational activities until the building assessment has been reviewed by the professional expert team,” he added.

He further stated that the West Jakarta CKTRP is requesting a more detailed technical assessment from the construction contractor.

“Follow-up inspections will soon be carried out together with the Professional Expert Team who have the capacity to obtain more accurate results for the reconstruction improvement process going forward,” he explained.

Meanwhile, West Jakarta Mayor Uus Kuswanto mentioned that during its one year of operation, the padel court has been regularly supervised by the local City Government, which also issued the operational permit.

"It was checked by the West Jakarta CKTRP yesterday. We want to understand why this happened so it does not occur again in the future," he stated.
